Maddie Des Jardins (Hungary) has been a huge supporter of the Iron Lady, so here I give you the Iron Lady update! Pay particular attention to the fact that this amazing athlete has here own theme song! I will let Maddie’s commentary take it from here:

Katinka Hosszu

“THIS ONE IS THE BEST: It’s about how Hosszu was depressed after the 2012 Olympics and almost quit swimming, and how she came out of that. Plus it talks about how she’s written books and the story behind her husband’s tattoo, which I thought was nice.

“Tusup said he chose the left bicep because that’s the arm he flexes toward her before races while telling her, “Be strong.”

“I’m going to do this because you inspire me to want to be better,” Tusup said. “I want you to know that I’m committed, too.””

I’m still learning more about the Iron Lady – she comes from an athletic family, which is really interesting…
“Her father is in the Hungarian basketball hall of fame. Her older brother plays pro ball in Germany and her younger brother also played. But it was her grandfather who was a swim coach, and Hosszu’s first coach until she was about 13 years old.”

This article comes from the Olympics website, which is cool:

Apparently there is also an “Iron Nation Anthem” which is amazing – it has lyrics like “because she’s Hungary”
ALSO THIS IS AN ACTUAL VIDEO OF SOMEONE ACTUALLY DOING GIANT TIRE LIFTS WHO KNEW THAT WAS REAL
“It always seems impossible until someone does it!”

And a behind the scenes look (cleverly called “Inside the forge”):

Unfortunately she didn’t show up for her qualifying match for the 200m butterfly (probably because the race was going to be really close to another one, so she had to choose):

12 Bonus points to the Maddie! Keep up the enthusiasm for Team Hungary!!!
